vast open sky

So last night was incredibly good!

Work was good.

Break time was even better.

Got one of the best text messages of my life at the end of my shift.

Had an excellent talk with a friend out in the parking lot of Chilis for an hour and a half. (whydo they lock their doors at 10? we just wanted some stinking queso!)

Went home and couldn't sleep and ended up reading Exodus chapter 14. Go read it. It is most amazing.

Finally fell asleep around either one-ish or two-ish. Can't really remember so much. I hope it was the earlier time. Cause I woke up early for some reason this morning. Love it when I do that. Know it's going to be a wonderful day. (and i really mean that. don't read that with my normal sarcastic tone inserted. it's supposed to sound sincere...)

Today is FRIDAY! Sadly, it brings to a close my run of three straight four-day work weeks. Tear. Ah but it was fun while it lasted. May has been one great month!

talking bird

Death Cab concert last night! Not my first time at Red Rocks, but definitely the first concert for me there! Pretty flipping awesome! We pretty much missed the entire set of the opening band, which sounded like they might be decent, but I wasn't too hurt about missing them. DCFC definitely made the night. They ended up playing like a five or six song encore (why doesn't every band do this?!), all old stuff that I didn't know. But I what I heard I for sure liked and am going to have to go invest in some of their old albums.

I love finding that I like bands that I thought that I didn't before. Just shows what the stupid radio stations can do to good music. So THANK YOU, Karen, for inviting me to the show! Had a great time!

And that's about all that's worth writing about right now. Have a good one.

tailspin

I get to go to a concert up at Red Rocks tonight which should be pretty fun! And I feel as though I am this close to not being sick anymore and that is definitely a wonderful thing! And I had possibly one of the best 3-5 day stretch this last weekend that I've had in a long long time! So much fun and I didn't even have to think of working at all. The hardest thing I had to do was lose to my dad at horse shoes five games in a row. What can I say, it was his birthday and the guy can just straight throw some iron.

Well, I guess it's pretty much that time of day where I might need to try to pretend to start working so that when we actually start working in another hour it won't take too long to get out of here...

walk away

So I slept for almost twelve hours last night. It was glorious, but I am still on the tired side. Guess that's probably because I am still sorely behind on my sleep and I'm still rather sick. But at least I'm trying to get better now, instead of my usual "I'll be ok, I'm just going to keep on doing my normal stuff and just ignore the fact that I'm coughing hard enough to crack a rib". So maybe that will help.

Peanut butter and banana sadwiches are a wonderful way to start off the day. With chunky pb and, of course, toasted bread. With grand quantities of coffee.

Mmmm, coffee.

robot factory

Spent the weekend in MN! Had so much fun up there and I got to see a good amount of the relatives given the short amount of time that I was up there. Sure wish I could get up there more often.

Last Thursday night I went to the Flight of the Conchords concert here in Denver! So funny! Just wish i hadn't been sick with a bad cough a the time. I felt bad for laughing and I was laughing a lot! But it was so worth going to.

Had our second softball game of the season last night. So much better than last weeks game! We still have a lot of improvements we can make, and it would help if some of us didn't strike out THREE times (hey I am really sick), but we actually scored more than ten runs which is something I think we did maybe once the whole of last season. And it was fun. Which is what really matters, right? Well...yeah, sure.

Chuck Norris is the reason why Waldo is hiding.

So I thought I was sick yesterday. And then I started to feel better. And then the house we were working in started to bug the junk out of me cause they have a cat. But then I had to leave there to go to my other job. And I started to feel better again. And then, as the night progressed, I started to feel like a truck ran over me. But then I got to go home and do some laundry and eat and watch sports center and then I started to feel a little better again. And then I woke up this morning and felt like junk again. But then, just before leaving the house, I made a little deposit down the sink drain that looked like it may have contained the entire contents of my brain...and also whatever this junk in my system was. So hopefully I'm on the road to a land of happy.

In other news. I had a dream last night that when I'm up in MN my sister is going to give me a huge G.I. Joe jet propelled snow sled. It was pretty sweet back when I had one. The thing is, it wasn't so much on the huge side. So, either Hasbro redesigned it or I just always secretly wanted a version of it that was 20 times its actual size.

Well, time to figure out what might be going on today.

music: the J.M. album again. it's actually pretty good. ya'll should go out and get yourself one

make it mine

Pretty sure I'm getting sick. Or actually, am sick already. Oh well. Not like I have the best end of the week EVER coming up.

Thursday night I am going to the Flight of the Conchords concert here in Denver. Then, early Friday morning, I get to fly to MPLS for the weekend to see the sister for her birthday! and try to cram in as much as time allows during a three day trip. Then I'm back late Sunday night in time to sleep a little and then the second softball game of the season on Monday night late. Think I may just try to repress this week's game and call next week's the first game. It was pretty ugly...

What's with people calling non-strangers "mister"? I mean, really. What is the deal?

Well, I think I get to go spend my day in mindless agony testing wires in a house that is larger than most and definitely uglier that most too. Well, It's a job... :)

Talking to automated phone systems at 5:30 in the a.m. on a Friday is a fun thing to do. You should try it sometime. The upside is, when you finally get aggravated enough at the stupid voice and just punch "0" on the phone you actually get to talk to a real person without waiting for like 20 minutes. That was good.

I want this day to be over and it really hasn't even started yet.

cali

So I went to the book store last night. And not just any book store. The Tattered Cover. In Denver. Been there once before, but that was like maybe 13 years ago. Pretty cool place. And it's actually open till 11, so I may get to go there again as it seems I have problems making it to places that close at or before 9.

Watched most of Dan In Real Life on Monday night. Pretty good movie. I missed some of the beginning of it, but the rest was decent. Not quite as funny as expected, but the subject matter was a little on the heavier side (emphasis on the "little") so not a ton of over the top comedy, but it was nice. And there were still plenty of times that I found myself laughing. Kind of reminded me of a cross between The Family Stone and well, maybe more just a spin off of that one.

Also watched The Kingdom on Monday. That's the one with Jamie Foxx and the Alias chick. This was actually a pretty good movie too. Little political, but definitely not overly so. Some action, but not tons.

If you only have time to watch one of these movies, I would take Dan in Real Life.

Or just wait till tomorrow and go see Iron MAn in the theatre. Going to be a sweet! movie. Can't hardly wait!

And welcome to May in Colorado. It's snowing again.

EDIT:

Almost forgot... Also, it's not to the stage of drama yet, but I can feel the plot building and tensions rising, so I'm just going to call it drama as that is what it amounts to in my life... Seems like some drama on the very close horizon in the world of women in my life. In other words, I may be asking someone out in the near future. But just how, when, where, and why is a whole nother story. For now I would just be happy if the whole situation would let me get through a day without developing a level five headache. And that's all for now.
