bargain basement

Ok, so that title line should probably be saved for a time when it is more fitting (if you know the song it's from, and specifically the line it's from, you'll understand), but it's all I can think of right now. And hey, it is Saturday night. Huh, maybe it works better than I thought...

So it has been a little while since I have had a chance to post anything. Pretty much just been busy and not getting a whole lot of sleep. So I haven't really so much felt like waking up any earlier than I need to. And not a whole lot of any consequence has been going on.

Got a nice amount of snow over the last week or so. Always a good thing. Just makes me wish I could get up the mountain and do a little boarding. But that's for next year!

Was given a small mountain of presents recently. But that's what tends to happen when your birthday falls within a few days of Christmas! Ended up with a lot of cool stuff, most of which are for use in a kitchen. So if anyone needs me to make them something, just let me know. And maybe send a recipie with the request...

Got to make breakfast for some friends on Christmas morning. It had been a couple of years at least since I had a chance to do this for more than just myself. Went pretty well. And, at least as far as I am concerned, the food was great!

Almost got in an accident on Christmas day, but the guy just barely clipped my back bumper. And this is where having a truck comes in handy. Cause they actually sorta make the bumpers a little beefier than normal just cause they're trucks. I may just be full of crap, but considering the fact that I couldn't even see a scuff mark anywhere on my truck and his little plastic Saturn suv has parts missing, I'm sticking with my opinion.

Oh, and I think I actually sorta had a date on Thursday night. Not really though. But there was definite implications of dating involved. Unfortunately, nothing further is going to happen. Or I should actually say fortunately. But lets not really talk about that so much anymore.

Didn't seem like I worked a whole lot this week. Between Christmas and the "snow" there just wasn't a whole lot of time to work. But, despite the fact that about three months ago I requested today off and wasn't even scheduled, I got to go in at 8 a.m. this morning. Which was actually really nice and pretty fun. Granted, it threw the day off a little, but nothing that is going to be too tragic at all. And I needed the hours, and with not working so much the rest of the week it was nice to actually feel like I was doing something productive. And I really like being there on days like today. It was good.

And now it's time to go eat some cheese cake and then maybe go make some cupcakes. We will see...

Kinda strange to think that I'm 28.

you said

Ok, quick rundown of Christmas with the parents last night.

Ate some good food.

Opened my presents from them.

Got:

- New bag for softball. Score!
- Calendar my dad made with some cool pictures on it. Nice.
- Old, mid-sized meat cleaver. Pretty sweet!
- Gift card to Crate and Barrel. Very nice!
- Twelve pack of Pepsi and twelve pack of Mt Dew. Guess I need to show up at their place more often...
- Flashlight for my truck that is powered by winding, not batteries. Guess they really do care about my safety. Yeah!

Gave my parents their presents.

Dad got a t-shirt (cause it was literally cheaper than dirt) in a nice light blue color. He actually like it too. He also got a new winter hat. Cause I liked it and figured if he didn't I would just keep it for myself!

Mom got a new cell phone. Rarely have I seen her this excited. Really. So I guess I did good on that one.

So it was a pretty good night. And now it's time for work...

got 99 problems

Actually, I have relatively few problems. Other than the fact that I seem to be perpetually hungry...

And it's supposed to be 50 degrees today! Should have worn shorts. Going to regret that decision later.

Definitely getting excited about Christmas. Finally. I think I finally have a plan falling into place, at least for Christmas Eve, and I am getting excited about it. Yes, I know that I am not going to be with any family, and I am very sad about that. But I think as far as other alternatives go, it will be a fun time.

And I get to open some presents tonight! And then maybe get some sleep. As I was a total dork this weekend and stayed up watching movies, by myself, both Friday and Saturday night. Yes, Saturday night found me watching the bonus materials! for Love Actually at like 1:30 in the morning. Kind of ridiculous. Very. So sleep must be had tonight.

let it snow!

Currently taking bets on how late it is going to be before anyone else shows up at the office. Remember, these are people who, on a day without snow, show up anywhere from 15 to 45 minutes after we are "supposed to" be here. And it took me at least an extra 30 minutes to get in this morning. And I left home before most of the traffic is usually out on the roads...

Think I may have time to mosey on down to the gas station and pick up some coffee...

This would be such a perfect day to just lay on a couch and finally watch It's A Wonderful Life while drinking endless cups of hot chocolate.

i heard what you said a few minutes later

So, where to start with this last weekend... Guess I'll start at the very beginning, a very good place to start.

Friday morning my phone decided to die a quick and miserable death. So I the fun experiance of going to renew my T-Mobile contract for another two years. Yuck. But this was by far the worst thing that happened all weekend and it really wasn't even the weekend yet, so it wasn't too bad.

Friday night I went to see the Phil Vasser concert! It was SO awesome! Still excited about it! He did a whole bunch of songs, and they kept throwing it bits of old school rock songs too. Pretty sweet. And then for his first encore song he did Billy Joel's "Piano Man". One of my most favoritist songs ever! Such a fun night!

Then on Saturday I woke up to some minor freaking out of one of my eyes. So I went to work, but by about 1 in the afternoon I told them I had to leave cause it was just not allowing me to be productive at all. So I walked down to Lens Crafters and got myself a brand spankin' new pair of glasses. True, not that exciting really, but in a way it is. It has been at least 10 years since I got my last pair, so it was about time. And these I can actually wear out in public if I want to.

Then, before I left the mall on Saturday, I picked up a few things from work. I got a smokin' deal on some colonge because it was "damaged". And I picked up a new hat for myself. And I bought a present for a friend that I had been wanting to get for them for a while and I was so excited all week cause I knew I was getting it on Saturday.

And it snowed on Saturday too! Would have been nice to get to play in it a little, but it was a little cold for that even. So it was nice just to have the evening to sit inside with some friends. Didn't even have to shovel at all.

And I got a new book! (thanks Jess!) Just the motivation that I needed to actually get through the book that I'm reading now.

Think I stayed up all the way to about 8:30 last night. Think I may need to take a little nap before anyone else shows up this morning...

a tap on the shoulder

Why is it always surprising to be surprised by where little bits of insight and encouragement are received from? I mean really. After all this time you would think that I would just automatically go to the person I would least expect to have anything useful to say.

In other news, I "bought" some furniture last week. Now all I need is somewhere to put it. Which should be coming hopefully in Feb. And since I can't really pick up the furniture till mid-Jan, it should all work out fairly well. Pretty excited!

And then there's Friday night. Already getting excited about it this week. And no, there isn't even a girl involved. At least that I know of. Just going to be a fun night.

And now I just got confirmation that I get to go to the Nuggets game tonight!

Funday, funday, funday! What day does that come after? ANY day!

take a quick tour

So good weekend. Overall, that is. If you weigh the good v. bad, the good comes out on top. And the "bad" isn't necessarliy bad. Just frustrating. So, good weekend.

Woke up early Saturday so I could get up to my parent's house and give myself a haircut before breakfast. So once again, I have no hair. Or very little. So much nicer. Then my dad was having his staff Christmas breakfast at Country Buffet, at 8:15 on Saturday morning (the man doesn't know the meaning of "sleeping in"). And since I put in maybe a whole 30 hours for him this year, I got to go. But it was nice. And actually pretty good food.

I actually didn't have to work at all on Saturday, which was probably the second best, well, third best thing of the whole weekend. In a tie for first was that I got to spend pretty much the remainder of Saturday hanging out with the baby. She is soooo cute! And she can crawl now! And holy crap can she get around. She is going to be a little terror soon. Already thinks it's fun to press buttons. Just so happens one of the few buttons she can reach is the one that turns the tv off...

The other event that ties for first place for the weekend actually happened ot work on Sunday. Which was rather amazing in itself. But I've said since I started there that there are great people working there.

Then later Sunday night I went back to work. But I didn't have to work. Just met a couple friends there for our friends and family thingy. It was kinda nice being there and not having to work. And then we went to Changs and got some food. Been a while since I've been there. They have some great food! Great great food. SO good.

Think my eye almost tried to freak out again on me last night/this morning, but it's hanging tough so far...
